"5 Essential Tips for a Hassle-Free and Enjoyable Camping Trip"

Writer's picture: Luke Luke

There's no doubt, camping is still a favorite past time of so many outdoorsy people but with all the stress of daily life, sometimes we forget to plan ahead.

Here are 5 easy tips for planning your next camping trip to make sure it's hassle free and enjoyable!

1. Shop Ahead

The biggest part of most camping trips (especially if going remote) is having enough food, water ... and maybe alcohol to actually enjoy your trip without having to run into town to top up.

We find it so much easier to write a dedicated shopping list for our trips usually the weekend before and grab all of our shopping through the week.

This just gives us one less thing to worry about when it comes time to head off.

Bonus tip: If you usually head off straight after work on Friday, this makes life so much simpler. Not having to tow a camper trailer or caravan to a Shopping Centre to grab the essentials.

2. Pack Early

If you can muster it, pack all your bags through the week.

This doesn't just save you time, but saves having any doubt in the back of your mind while your driving to your favorite camping spot.

There's nothing worse than driving with the thought of "Did I remember to pack my toothbrush?" rattling around in the back of your mind.

The earlier you can pack your bags, the less you need to check when you're loading up the car!

We’ve made these 5 little tips a part of our trip planning process and have made a our trips far less stressful and way more enjoyable.

3. Get Charged

This one gets overlooked ALL THE TIME, but it's definitely important.

Make sure you charge up all your batteries, and no I'm not just talking to the Influencers and YouTubers out there.

From your phone to your camera for photos, camp lighting or your 12V system, make sure all your power needs are sorted before you take off down the road!

There's nothing quite like turning up with a flat camper trailer battery and a camera with no charge, then turning on your camp lights to cook dinner just to find out it hasn't been charged since last trip!

4. Do a little Research

You might have a favorite spot you like to visit. Or maybe this is your first time visiting a campground. Either way, check it out.

However you like to camp, don't just focus in on where you park your camper trailer, or roll out your swag, check out the local area for interesting or fun stuff you can do.

So many times we've arrived home after a great camping trip just to see an Instagram or Facebook ad tell us about something cool we've just missed 5 minutes from where we were camped.

Don't miss opportunities when they could be right next door!

5. Look Up

A bit of an obvious one but check out what the weather is doing for your trip.

This is going to make everything easier. From packing the right clothes, to planning activities, knowing what the weather has in store for you will make your trip a whole lot more relaxed and enjoyable.

We hope you can incorporate these tips into your trip planning process and they make life a bit easier for you.
